The Demolished Man: ESP’s Electric Rodeo

Telepaths rule!

Telepaths rule!

A book about me -

an ESP-er,

which,

I do not

or-din-ar-ily

come clean

about,

but since we’re

here,

talking sci-fi

(or in this case,

psi-fi)

I might as

well

spill the bean.

Cue music:

The

Twilight Zone.

Cuz We

are not

Alone,

No Doubt.

You know what

I mean?

There are

telepaths

& clairvoyants

among ye -

Think of that

Xcept

They already

think of it

before you

can even

blink.

That fast.

Future past,

Whizzzz and Whirrrrrrr,

Electric Rodeo.

Just the way

it go.

Some just know

before it

be,

That how

it go with

ESP.

Inspired by the first Hugo-Award-winner, Alfred Bester’s The Demolished Man. Written in 1951, published in 1953, this copy is from The Science Fiction Book Club (Doubleday). Some consider this a classic – a story of the 22nd Century when telepaths (ESPers) ruled the world.  Author Bester must have been somewhat prescient – his books describes SKYPE, flip-phones and remote switches changing light colors long before they were common.  A lot of word-play, anagrams, and character’s names derived from the famous and infamous. Tons of fun.

from the nifty

’50s

predicting in

2301,

telepaths

would rule

the world.

That means,

only 287 years

to go

and counting
